Cheltenham Improvisers Orchestra at The Wilson Art Gallery & Museum

​The CIO is a community group directed by Chris Cundy. The orchestra meets twice monthly at The Wilson Art Gallery & Museum in Cheltenham and workshops explore exercises in creating surprise and spontaneity, conducting with visual pathways into communal music-making, exploring deep listening, and embracing an anarchic approach to performing music in public.

​Anyone can join the orchestra and we're proud to be made up of amateur players as well as professionals from many different backgrounds. We currently have around twenty-five players and the instrumentation ranges from Indian tongue drums, bowed banjos, clarinets, zithers, and a whole range of electronic instruments.
